WELCOME

Welcome to my Website! This is the last website I’ll ever make for Web/Audio as well as being the last unit at Freestyle Academy. It’s been a fun ride and I’ve really enjoyed my time here at Freestyle Academy! I’ve learned that I have some interest in coding, even though I’m not great at it currently, I have gotten a lot better. Especially with this unit as it challenged me to understand Javascript. This unit also marks the end of Freestyle for me...It's been a fun ride! If I had to pick one thing, the best thing about Freestyle was meeting all of these new people, I’ve made sooo many friends and being around them has allowed me to be more expressive and confident around others.

This particular unit for Web/Audio is about experimentation and learning. We were assigned a “Mini-Project” that required us to create something we wanted to learn more about. So in my case I wanted to learn more about Javascript and the uses of it, so I made all of my banners you see here animate an object within them. We also were taught the basics of what is known as "Responsive Web Design" this is how websites scaling with tablets and phones is done. When you are on a phone viewing my website the design dynamically changes based on the pixel width and height of your phone or tablet.

HUMOR

Mask

Here is our humor video! This is the result of what we did in our English class. We wrote and performed our own humor pieces; together with Danny, Cameron, and Austin we presented this. This video was Cameron's idea, he was frusturated with how hard it is to learn card games so much so that he wrote a script about it, that script was turned into this video below! Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it with my friends!

This is the Design counterpart for our humor unit, we had to take a part from our humor presentation to inspire our artwork for this unit. Since our video was all about cards I decided that I should do something In regards to cards as well. I llustrated a jester leaving the card he always lived in because he was tired of being a running joke. Hope you like it! You can view my full artist statement here.

BLINK

We started off our Blink unit by reading "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell, a book that focused on how our subconcious functions and pointing out how rely on it for everyday actions. Then in our Design class we meditated for 15 minutes which we then followed by doing a quickwrite and artwork. We also had playtime in which we could relax. Overall it was like being in kindergarten all over again. It was very enjoyable! One of our artworks we did was a collage piece in which we cut things out from magazines and pasted them onto a canvas to be assembled into a representation of antcipation. Here it is below! You can view my full artist statement here.

We also revised one of our quick write to be revised based off a book we read. I read "The Color of Magic" and I revised my blinkwrite to be closer to the style of writing found in that book. You can read it here.

MINI PROJECT

For Web/Audio we had to create a mini-project. Our mini-project could be really anything we wanted it to be. I decided that I wanted to learn more about Javascript and how it can be used to animate objects within an article. I did this by animating a lot of the objects you see on this page. I learned a suprising amount from this, it was very complicated and hurt my brain to learn what I did. Even though the Javascript I used is nothing amazing it still took a lot of work and teaching from my peers to understand. In the end I learned a great deal from this mini-project and I no longer view Javascript as some magical code that I'm given; I can actually see myself finding ways to utilize it. Hope you like the website!
