Introduction

The focus of this conceptual unit is to through our conceptual statement. It was drawn from English class where all of the projects will begin. From there on I use this statement in all of how classes. Where I used the heart instead of the mind more. From that statement; I was able to make a lot of poems in English, Made pictures that present each poem. You can see my statement in the Poem section of my website. Design class I worked on a project called Conceptual Art where the statement is seen through art, In Web and Audio we created a website where all of my creations from the other classes are put together. I also made an animated a poem that express it more deeply or creatively, and Final thing I did is to make an experimental music that does have to connect to my statement but just to explore on making music. What learn artistically through this unit is that you don’t need to make the perfect piece of art, poem, or music you just need to express yourself and explain it to the world what you’re made of and the rest is understandable. In the world of art. The technically thing I learn is that once you have all of the pieces it all seems to all fit. With a lot of saving in the process.

Haiku

This is my animated Haiku it is from the English Photo Haiku we did in English class. You would see my haiku on the poem section below. Poems

In English class we are assignment with our statements and we have to write three poems about it. But in my case I wrote 4 or 5 about my topic. Since this is the one unit that I can express my inner soul to. Everyone has at least four poems on their website. One of them is the haiku that I represent above. The purpose of these poem is to made a collection out of them containing: 10 line poem that you would see in the animation section, 25 line poem also known as the spoken word poem, and last a free choice poem. I have write two more of them. Making my collection six poem all together. My statement “I am exploring the feeling of dread through the experience of an accident.” These are my poems that I express and heart, time, and soul from.

Animation

In Web/Audio, we were assigned to animate one of the poems we wrote in English using Flash in a way that accurately connects the message we are attempting to bring regarding our concept statements. I chose to animate my first poem that I have written. The ten line poem because I seen all the images that i would want to use like my brain is already making the animated poem in my head. Sure mine is not like the other animated poems out there. But I know my animated poem would be as great.

It’s girly pink, sweet, and happy

The color of a cherry blossom tree,

Blooming in the spring air.

From these three lines of my poem you would see images from each word or line that corresponds to an image that best fits in it. I choose these visuals and the poem itself because this poem is so important to me. The name of this poem is not existent because I wanted the reader to know that the name of the poem is in the art and it would not make the viewer think if I just give the title away. In my stylized poem you would see that my first poem is next to my haiku and that first poem is not labeled anything. Just a corner of Hello Kitty if you're familiar with it and the poem. The poem is about a girl who is living in a whole world of happiness and a complete family; loving pink and everything beautiful. But that all come to an end at the middle of the poem it shifts to a scene of question and a lost memory of that same happiness she was living before. It is a story of a matured girl just looking far back to that happy memory she called now a happy accident. For my poem I use my conceptual statement “I am exploring the feeling of dread through the experience of an accident.” to express what I was think and feeling of that time.

Art

The conceptual is made from Design class that follows the statement we had. The assignment was to make an art piece that use both fine art media with digital media. It was hard at first because we don’t how what to make but over all my art and other students got shocking results. My Title Climb to the light means do not go to the dark road but to find the light where happiness, friends, family are. Climb up against the negative energy that is pulling you down, climb up and meet the light that would guide to the right direction to the compass that stays by your side.

For this Conceptual Project, I explored the feeling of dread though the experience of an accident. When I randomly drew “dread” and “the experience of an accident” from the hat in English, I thought, “Wow, they really wanted me to express my emotions!” Dread is a feeling that I experienced twice in my life, losing two important people, but not through an accident. That word scared me. I didn’t want to make accidents or mess up on anything I did, in my life or in my art. I wanted it all to be pretty, and most importantly, to impress everyone with my work. The art above uses the medium of water colors; by using only two colors I was able to make different shades. Using blue and brown, I wanted to make the effect of lighter to darker, because I was thinking that in the surface I look happy, cheerful, and full of life; but like the pond there is something beneath that is often not seen, which the dark colors of dread and deep sight suggest I’m feeling: sad, lonely, and disconnected. Sure, there were some mistakes in my artwork, but the word “accident” in my statement means that it is okay if I mess up; in art, some accidents are happy!

Using Adobe Illustrator, I created a compass, a ladder, and three paths. The ladder is a tool for reaching tall things, but it can also be a danger if you fall and nobody catches you. The roots form two paths to the ladder. One is a trail full of sadness, emptiness, and negativity. The other path represents happiness, love, joy, hope, being positive, and optimism about life itself. The compass guides, giving direction so you wouldn’t get lost or sad for too long. Life is full of wandering, curiosity, interests, and understanding; yet, as children, the path is straight because everything’s easy and simple. Everything is done for you, so all you have to do it live life. As we grow up we need a compass more and more.

Music

The particular instrument I choose is the drums to explore something new than just tigglering piano keys to make music but actually experincesing the drums and meet the music.

My music doesn't really have to do anything with my conceptual statement like the peoms above. Because music can’t be define as one meaning.

Like art it was a lot meanings too depending on the artist. Our assignment is to creatively make music and that is what I would be doing. What inspired me to do this music is because of the songs I had throughout my entire website. You can see them on the projects button page. Those songs inspired me to sing in my own language with a meaningful message behind it. My music is basically exploring music. My music includes making with the drums. So that my singing is not just karaoke but my own. The meaning of the music is holding hands not matter what happens I would be with you every step of the way. Don’t think that even though i am not there you're alone, which you are not because i would always be by your side. Holding hands the title of the song in english. But the official song is called “Hawak Kamay” by Yeng Constantino. This song as a lot of meaning memories for me as well as for the artist. I have known her for many years now. She was my childhood star.

I recorded my music in the studio. This is the first time I’m using it and I have to unplug the cables to the drums and replug them again. Then I used ProTools to recorded both the lyrics and the instrument to make this song. I used the Iso booth to sing the lyrics. It is a small room to aviod the background noises and only focus on the recording. Having to make three recordings for the drums to make it just as close to what I wanted since I can’t really describe what I wanted to our teacher. He helped me with my the recordings of the drums. And we used reverb and some delay to the final mix with a fade in the end. To make it sound more professional, full with depth, and a little bit of echo. I really hope that you would enjoy my website and my music. Making this music make me so inspired and passion at what I’m going. That even though I don’t know much about music. I can make something that I am proud of.
