About Me:

Who am I?

I’m Kat! I play field hockey and just committed to Ithaca College in New York. I’ve done soccer since I was three, did competitive gymnastics for a long time, tried ballet, baseball, water polo, rock climbing and many more…

But beyond sports, I’m someone who likes having a lot of things going on– if you couldn’t tell. I like making things, trying new hobbies, going places I haven’t been before, and spending time with people I can laugh with. I’m usually the person who gets curious about something and wants to try it myself, even if I have no idea what I’m doing yet. I’m a person who likes to explore and have fun while I do it.

What do you value?

I value community, creativity, humor, and exploration/multiplicity. I like being around people I can make things with, joke around with, and learn from. I also value having the chance to try things I haven’t done before, even if I have no idea whether I’ll be good at them.

What Are You Currently Passionate About?

I’ve been spending a lot of time making things: writing, filming, editing, drawing, building sets, and generally figuring out how to turn an idea in my head into something physical. Film has become a way to bring a lot of those interests together. I like being able to start with a blank page and eventually have something on a screen that I can actually point to.

Why did you choose to become a Freestyle student and what do you value/appreciate about being a Freestyle student?

I wanted to learn more about film and media before going into college. I knew I was interested in it, but I wanted some experience actually using cameras, editing footage, writing scripts, and working through the process of making a project before I had to do it on my own. Plus, THE COMMUNITY!
