For this project, I recorded music with my friend, Mary Kate, in the recording studio. I really enjoyed the experience of this project! We first did a practice session, where we learned how to use all of the equipment. We learned how to connect the instruments, practiced turning on/off sound, recording, setting up a project, and communicating with the musicians. It was really cool to be able to imitate such a professional environment and really learn how to record and produce music.

Durring this project worked with Danny who played the Bass and his friend Arjun who played Guitar. Both of them are members of the MVHS Guitar Club and regularly play. They were great choices for our project because they understand how to play the instruments and have experience recording their music. It was a great experience, and I would definitely want to try recording music again.
The song they decided to play is “Treasure” by Bruno Mars which sounded amazing! After recording, we decided to use Pro Tools to add a drum in the background to further enhance the audio. Below are pictures of our players Danny and Arjun!

This was the first time we were in full control of the studio and were able to use the different applications. Mary Kate did an amazing job of helping out and Im so grateful for her collaboration with me.
Music Recording of “Treasure” Artist Statement:
We both really enjoyed the music recording project. At the beginning of the project, we had to consider what type of musicians we wanted for the project. We both had a mutual friend who played the guitar, and he and his friend were a perfect choice. We enjoyed our first practice session with Mr. Flo because we learned how to use all of the equipment, practiced how to communicate properly with our musicians, and overall got more comfortable with the recording studio. This wasn’t our first time using the recording studio, but it was our first time being more independent when recording. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn how to record and edit music. We feel it is a really cool skill to know, and the experience has helped us grow our skill sets in producing music.
Overall, this was a great use of the Freestyle Studio as it is an amazing add to the campus and my personal favorite thing about Freestyle. This project was great as it helped my partner and I learn all the basics of the Pro Tools and how the studio works! Thank you to my partner for all the work she put in and both Danny and Arjun!
