THE PROJECT
difficult then I had my sister test itwhich was one of the hardest things to watch because I’ve been making this recipe for 3 years slowly perfecting my technic not to mention when I wrote my recipe I wrote one of the ingredients wrong. The red pepper flakes which are supposed to be ½ tsp I wrote as 1 Tbsp the sauce she made was almost uneatable even after cream and sugar were added to cut the spice. After that, I made all of the necessary changes to the recipe and that aspect was done.
Ms. Parkins showed me a photo of some food photography that messed with my brain. I decided to try to recreate it with my ingredients. I needed a whole lot of light to take no shadow photos of my ingredients before and afters. I brought those into Lightroom and edited them so they would all be similar. Then into photoshop to combine them all together. Final product. Then I shot my dish photo. But before I could do that I picked out my color scheme and sketched out what the composition would look like. I decided on a red monochromatic. It was hard because I didn’t have a wide enough lensso I was 
standing on a latter in my kitchen with my camera against the ceiling hoping I got a good shot. Took the shot into Lightroom and edited it. Finally, I had the photos and the recipe I could move onto a spread. But I still needed to decide on a typeface. Lots of searching later I found Volklorn I liked it for body text and decided to use it. I used Athelas for secondary and ____ for the title. I designed it all in InDesign and this is what it looked like.
This project was really hard because of the time constraints we had. We only had 2 weeks to do all of the research and produce a final project. This was a pretty big challenge for me. Trying to find time to make the sauce multiple times was hard enough with school but having to photograph it afterward was even harder. The sauce takes 6 hours and changes to make and by the time I get home after school, it’s 9:00 when I’m finishing the sauce. Trying to take photos in a badly lit kitchen and 9:30 was very hard.
