Introduction
As part of our Digital Media course we learned how to create music using the applications ProTools and Reason. Through discovering more about these programs I learned how to create effective drum beats and complimenting chord structures. The following are some examples of how I practiced using these softwares and some of the music I was able to create.
ProTools
One of the applications we learned was ProTools. Through this application, we were able to combine instruments and beats to create music.
Reason
This is what the Reason interface looks like. This application is different from ProTools because of its layout, plug-ins, and accessibility. I personally enjoyed using Reason more than ProTools.
Here is the piece I created:
This is the class combined piece:
Original Piano Piece
When I was an 8th grader I composed my own rough piano piece. It mainly consisted of me playing random chords and notes and trying to create a pattern I could replicate. I then found the video I recorded of the piece while studying at Freestyle. The timing was perfect because I discovered it after learning how to work the Reason application. I then recorded and edited the music to create a raw copy.
I also made a song cover design for my piece using Illustrator. I titled my song, “Transcendental Experience.”

I plan to continue to work on this piece throughout my Freestyle journey. I want to continue to edit and improve it as well as possibly adding different beats in order to create a more complete song.
