The humor project was the final English assignment we had. For about a month prior, we had studied and analyzed humor techniques from stand up comedians, sketch writers like Keegan-Micheal Key, and a novel by Kurt Vonnegut: Slaughterhouse-Five. For the project, we drew inspiration from out favorite comedians to create our own product.
I created an animated sketch comedy scene in a group of three, with my friends Bryce and Thomas. I really loved writing the script together with my them; I had previously worked with Bryce on the Worldbuilding Project, and Thomas was a fun person to be around. We settled on making a spoof of Jeopardy called Endangery, and the three of us voiced the characters. I’d say our biggest influences were Saturday Night Live and Key and Peele. Both of these humorists’ comedy revolves around character driven sketches, and we wanted to implement that in our project. It was cool having the opportunity to create something out of scratch with my friends. Despite technically being our English final, I wasn’t too stressed working on it. I think it was the best possible way to end off my Freestyle experience–for English at least!

PRESENTATION:
Alright scratch what I said before, this project actually was pretty stressful. We finished the script and got it approved 2 days before the presentation day, and I edited for about 6 hours straight over the weekend. But through that stress, I still had so much fun. Around hour 3 I realized that this project wasn’t as high stakes as I was making it out to be. It was just supposed to be a goofy thing to share as a parting gift to English class. And so, I continued editing, not for the grade, but because it was something to be enjoyed. Anyways, 10/10 project, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
