Narrative 2: Animation

Drawing Practice

In Animation, we practice sketching and drawing from observation, in other words, life drawings. This unit, we also practiced perspective drawings. We practiced doing life paintings with watercolor and learned how to create one point, 2 point, and 3 point perspectives. At the beginning, we learned about Notan and Chiaroscuro drawings. Notan is where you focus on the light vs dark of the drawing while Chiaroscuro focuses on the shapes and patterns which you see.

Perspective

One point perspective of the animation classroom
Two-point perspective from imagination. I tried to create a contrast between the left and right cities. The left being organic and messy and the right being organized and clean.
Three-Point perspective from imagination, possibly the most difficult one.

Maya

For maya, we first began to learn how to animate by creating a personality walk cycle. I wanted to portray a shy and timid child.

Just a little preview of what we’ve been doing in animation.

Action Reaction

In animation, we create another exquisite corpse like video where something falls from a whole, interacts with out character, and then the character throws it out somewhere. To do this, we modeled and animated in the 3D animation program MAYA. These are some shots of my project.
