Narrative 2: Digital Media

Music Production

One of my favorite parts about digital media this year was that we learned how to use Reason, which is a music production program. While I don’t know any music theory and am not musically inclined, I overall hope to learn more about the production of music.

For this unit, we created and EDM song in order to practice our skills. While I did not know the notes or chords I was playing, I am still mesmerized by the fact that I was able to create something unique.

This a compilation of all of the first year digital media student’s EDM’s, but mine is in there somewhere.

Mandalas:

As part of our Narrative unit in Digital Media, we took our Illustrator skills a step further and learned how to create beautiful and intricate mandalas. Using reflections and paths, while experimenting with different types of brushes, we learned how to combine different strokes, shapes, and patterns and create a unified and breathtaking mandala.

Blooming Mandala: Highly based off of natures patterns, I combined a few happy accidents here and there along with some experimental leaf brushes to create a flower like mandala that seems to bloom from the center.
A Piece of Me: In this mandala, I attempted to create a gradient by simply changing the color of my strokes. I tried to create more geometric shapes and patterns to contrast my first mandala. In this one, there is a little piece of me. Can you find it?

Freedom Project

The freedom project was given to us two weeks before exhibition. We were simply tasked to take the skills we have learned so far and create something new from it. This project was my first time being able to collaborate with others in animation. My friends Maria Haggart and Katelyn Bernardo worked together with me to create a special little surprise for our animation teacher Mrs. Adriana Copete. My contributions include the rotoscoping at the end and the flower. It was nice to be able to explore 2D animation again in contrast to the 3D that we did during this unit.
