About Me

Maria Haggart

I am currently a senior at Mountain View High School and Freestyle Academy of Communication Arts and Technology. My experience at Freestyle has been stressful, but amazing at the same time. With so many projects going on at once, it gets hard to manage my time and make sure I have enough time to myself to recharge and not have to focus on school work. I came to value my free time and time-management skills, as well as the community it created.  I came to Freestyle Academy for the English program, as that is my main interest. However, I have come to enjoy the other programs that are intertwined with English and have made many more friends as a result of Freestyle. Most of my artistic inspiration are authors and their books. These include Sarah J Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series, Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen series, and Shannon Messenger’s Keeper of the Lost Cities series. For art, I am inspired by the animation studios at Dreamworks, Disney, and Pixar, as they create outstanding worlds in both 3D and 2D animation. I am also inspired my multiple Instagram artists that I have found, who digitally draw characters from my favorite books, TV shows, and movies. Since I am mostly drawn to writing and English, I spend most of my free time writing different types of novels or reading the multitude of books I have. One of the highlights of my projects at Freestyle, as of now, is my documentary book. I enjoyed writing it and creating the layout for it, as well as connecting with my interviewees and finding their opinion on the subject matter.
