Narrative 1

During our visual Narrative Projects we learned how to tell tell stories visually. We polished our ability to use Adobe Illustrator, Pro Tools, Premier Pro, and Photoshop. We learned how to communicate and plan with others including actors, and our own partners. Each person having their own responsibilities, we were tasked with overcoming many problems.

Narrative Story

In English we were assigned to write a short story on a character that we had created. We filled in a complex character questionnaire which got us thinking about their backstory, personality, and upbringing. I was inspired by my the stories I had read by other writers in one universe and decided to create my own character in this same universe.

Illustrations

In Digital Media we used Adobe Illustrator too make our own creative pieces, a geometric light cover and another project of our choosing.

SCP Foundation Custom Logo

I wanted to have my own design for the foundation logo, I wanted to incorporate many of my own ideas for what the genre was too me. The genre is a science fiction genre about anomalous entities and the struggle of an organization to protect a world and hide the chaotic nature the phenomena and keep normalcy. Members of the community are people who make creative articles for the reading pleasures of others. Ordo contrs furor, roughly translates too order against the anger, and umbra est murus translates too the shadow of the walls. Which are mottos that I think an organization such as this one would claim as their own.I really love the genre and wanted to create my own sort of addition too it, I put the original motto of the SCP Foundation at the top of my document to complete my piece. The inside of my design aside from the logo contains an olive branch and shield, symbols of protection and peace, which I associate with justice. The very center contains a design that I made which I think looks akin to the Sun and its rays, shining light and our truth over everything else.

When making this project I learned how difficult it can be to create non-standard shapes. In Illustrator my knowledge of grouping and using different transformations enabled me to be able to create what I had envisioned. It also allowed my freehand design to look more or less completely centered and symmetrical. Creating spaced out lines between my circles proved to be very difficult and when looking at my art piece one can think that it isn’t perfect.

The Right, and Left Hands

I came up with my design when I thought of a Yin Yang, a dark and light that cannot exist without the other. The idea behind my Geometric Light Cover is two different sides or perspectives of the same thing, a light and dark. The good and the bad, however it’s not exactly clear for someone to tell, what the light, and what the dark is without perspective. If there was no bad then comparably there wouldn’t be any good either, they’re two opposite ends of the spectrum but they wouldn’t be able to exist without each other which I find interesting. The different sides of the shape, respectively let more or less light through.

When I was creating the Geometric Light Cover, I had to get more comfortable using Adobe Illustrator. I valued the time that I put into learning how to use the pen tool and getting used to making symbols in Adobe Illustrator.

Before we laser cut the plastic out we had the designs made on Illustrator

Griffiths Pattern

One piece of classwork that we had too do was our Griffiths pattern work. For the classwork we practiced Griffiths pattern, which is a technique in film that helps us transition between scenes. Showing the place first, then a close up or the inside of the place, before showing main characters. We can also use it to reverse out of a scene.

Chase Scene

For the chase scene class activity we were tasked with coming up with a chase scene scenario then filming it in or own time. We learned how to develop our editing skills, but primarily we learned how valuable time is, and that the planning and collecting of actors is important for success.

Suspense Scene

For the Suspense Scene class activity we used our gear too try and make the audience feel suspense. We tried to use quick cross

Junior Narrative Trailer

In film class we were tasked with making a Narrative Trailer for our film, and too cut it down so that it wouldn’t be any (if at all) longer than a minute. This was a fun quick activity that helped us get used more too editing and get a taste of what a trailer could be like.

Junior Narrative

For the Junior Narrative we were tasked with working with another partner too film a Narrative film without words. We had to edit in all of the sound effects and not use copy-write music. We had too work with other people and learned how to schedule and plan with each other. We assigned each other work too do and and had too practice communication. Our film is about a character, Dan, who wants too get his dream girl, but is victim too an old can of soup…

Lots of different clips went into editing our film, and we used a variety of sounds as well
