Welcome to my Portfolio

On this webpage, I will be displaying two of my personal favorite design works that I have produced at Freestyle Academy in the last two years. One is a mixed media pieced called "Wings" and the second is an edited photo called "Falling Sideways." I had the oppotunity to produce a lot of artwork at Freestyle, but these are the two design works that I am most proud of.

  This piece is a charcoal drawing of angel wings. After drawing out the wings, I smudged the excess charcoal outwards giving it 'a glow of darkness.' I then scanned the paper and began to work on the piece through Photoshop. I proceeded to sketch out a minimalist suit torso and added a halo to finish it all off.

  This piece is actually comprised of 4 different photographs with minimal combined editing. I started off with a B+W HDR image of my street and then took a picture looking straight down at my own feet and cut my body out of the image. I then used a model and took two images, one of each arm. After cutting every object out of their respective images, I began applying them to the original HDR background and then began the editing. I began to warp the background to give the feeling that the person within the image is being sucked down the street, hence the name 'Falling Sideways.' I used a low opacity eraser to give some transparency to create fading limbs. And finally, I added a few filters to the arms. I personally like this project most because I was able to create something from my wacky dreams.

In the future, I plan on attending University of California - Santa Cruz (UCSC) for Computer Engineering. Although I am not planning on exploring any form of design or art in the future, I do plan on maintaining this hobby. I do think that the things I have learned from these projects will stick with me as I have gained a few very important skills that can be applied to many different fields of study.
