INTRODUCTION

Portriat of Diane Costello and her dog Gromit
For my first quarter at Freestyle Academy, I worked on a Profile Unit. The purpose of the Profile Project was to create an article and a commercial to put a person of interest on display. For me, that person was professional dog photographer, Diane Costello. Diane has worked out of Fog Dog Studios in Halfmoon Bay where she utilizes her skill with dogs and photography.

This website is designed to display my Profile Project and the series of work that I completed in my classes at Freestyle Academy. The goal of this website is explain why Diane Costello and the things she has accomplished are incredible. I used Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop to design my website along with many other Adobe Applications.

This project offered a valuable learning experience as a student practicing the arts. Throughout the unit I just worked through, I was taught how ot use many new and fantastic applications as well as new features from products I have used in the past. The Profile Unit itself also taught me a valuable lesson on time and planning as well as the importance of communication when working on a project involving interviews, photoshoots, and general information gathering. I learned to always plan ahead, work with every second of free time, and to take initiative.

COMMERICIAL

This commercial is here to inroduce and explain Diane Costello in a fun in creative way using Adobe After Effects for the visual aspects of the video and Pro Tools for the audio portion of the commercial.

Initially, Adobe After Effects was an incredibly difficult application to comprehend until I dove head first into the commerical project. This was my first experience ever using an application anything like Adobe After Effects, but it definitely won't be my last time. After Effects is an incredibly powerful application, and I learned that it is capable of creating amazing things. At first, I struggled for a long time, trying to understand how to use the most basic of tools, but as I worked through it, the process became more fluid and easier to understand.

MAGAZINE

This Magazine visually presents and article I wrote for the Profile Project. I used Abobe inDesign to construct the magazine along with the Blurb Book Creator Plugin for the application. It is a five page magazine article entirely dedicated to Diane Costello, her business, and what she has accomplished. It tells a short story about why Diane is important to the world and why she's interesting.

These Images were taken during one of my initial interviews with Diane Costello. Most of the images capture the process of a photoshoot with her Boxer, Gromit. Through these images, I believe you can get a good feeling of what the environment is like at Fog Dog Studios.
