Photo Narrative Illustration Projects

Our project seemed like a simple assignment. We were told to take picture's that tell a story. Too bad it was a lot harder then expected. After a couple hundred photos, I ened up chosing photos from my last 20 photos taken to use. After all the editing, the pictures began to mold together, and they formed a single story instead of two sepretate ones.

Hidden Expressions

These two pictures represent the struggle a teenage girl, Alison, has expressing her self. She loves to draw about her thoughts, whether it's how she's feeling or just things she's seen, but she is always disappointed with how her drawing turn out. In her eyes, they are ugly, unclear, and crude. After countless attempts to accurately express her thoughts, Alison gives up, putting her head to the table, crumpling her last drawing, and locking away her creative side; throwing out the key.

She's in college now and she is faced with another challenge: she must paint a picture that represents herself. After delaying the project until the last possible moment, she finds her self before a large canvas, with brushes and colors ready to be used. She reaches out towards the brushes, remembering the thing she once loved to do. As her fingers touch the brush, Alison draws back slightly, remembering the pain that it once caused her: the pain of having to give up something cherished. Will she continue to stay behind locked bars, or will she craft a new key to open the path back to her creative side?
