Dreams of an Eraser Animatic

Mike Romeo and I drew this animatic at the beginning of the narrative unit. We had no idea what to expect in terms of what would be possible and what wouldn't. We drew out our story board and then scanned in each picture. After grabbing audio (which we recorded ourselves), we put animations to our story board panels. We hope you enjoy it, and also check out our final animation on the next tab.

Dreams of an Eraser Animation

Our final animation is something Mike and I are very proud of. We hunched our bodies of our laptops during class and outside of class late into the nights in order to get this where it is now. Although we spotted a few errors after publishing, we feel like it is somethign that reflects our best work. The only troubles we really struggled with is the organization of files which can mess you up pretty bad, and also the sound quality. We had to re-record our audio three times! With our story put in place and animations done, we give you the final product of "Dreams of an Eraser!"

Artist Statement:

My animation is called "Dreams of An Eraser" and my partner Michael and I spent many hours animating it. It focuses on an Eraser who wishes to move to the top drawer where life seems to be better. In the end he realizes that its not always greener on the other side. Or does he? My inspiration for this animation came from the show called "Avatar: The Last Airbender." This show's animations are top notch and the types of drawings are very clean and not detailed. We tried for this type of effect and to some extent succeeded. Also, the story Michael wrote influenced the plot so we always would go back to his story if we needed information on the characters or things of that nature. In the end, our story was inspired by our minds, which spent hours slaving over this animation. We hope everyone enjoys it and gets the message behind it.
