Profile of Jane Zdepski

This is Jane Zdepski. She is an incredibly multi-talented individual and a very busy woman. Diagnosed with macular degeneration just 10 years out of college she is now legally blind. As a mother of 4, a former civil engineer, and the region coordinator of Region 45 soccer for Ayso. Jane has not come across many obstacles in life that she was unable to overcome. In this Profile project, I interviewed Jane and a few people that know her so I could create a magazine article, website, commercial, and presentation about her life and so I could describe why she is important to the community. Introduction and Commercial

In English and Design, I was asked to create a magazine article about my Profilee. I researched related issues and wrote the text of the article in English, using interviews to enhance the writing with direct quotes. In design, I created the layout for the article. I used repetetive design elements and a color scheme that are intended to reflect my Star Interviewee's personality. I also used these design elements on this website, and in the presentation that I gave to my teachers and peers about the project. The color scheme I had in mind was very bold and consisted of darker colors, so instead of designing my website like that I decided to use pictures I had taken of Jane in her natural element. We also discussed the fact that many of the lessons she learns and the things she teaches her children don't show themselves until much later, and I used the visual metaphor of overlapping circles to show that those lessons eventually come full circle and that they have combined to make Jane the incredible person she is today.
