For the Explorations unit we had to reflect on all the different skills we've learned here at Freestyle Academy. By having no limit to what we could do we were asked to create an exploration project to explore our minds and show our experience here at Freestyle instead of just write about it. Here in this website you will explore my humor piece and Amplified piece. Both made in design class. Also you will experience my amplified writing piece we did in english and my mini-project for web/audio.
For the responsive website format we had to create a website that could respond to the different sizes of devices. For instance a desktop screen is obviously a lot bigger than say a tablet's screen. So by fiddling around with the css we were able to adjust the sizes for each device known to man. As for a desktop we made the diiferent articles adjust to the screen size if the screen size was larger than 1024px wide. Same with a laptop/tablet. For these devices the screen maximum had to be 1024px so the articles can adjust to the screen size with you having to scroll left or right. Lastly for a phone screen we made the maximum screen size to be 480px.
I wanted to say I am astonished by how much the Freestyle staff has taught me over the past two years. The past two years has been an amazing opportunity to really find out who I am as an artist. I have ventured through a lot of emotions here and relfected those emotions in a healthy was thanks to Freestyle. I am proud to say I know how to use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, After Effects, and Flash. Along with Reason and Pro Tools applications for making and editing music. Although these are truely wonderful things to learn, but that not all I've learned here at Freestyle. I have also learned how to be self indepedent, manage my time efficiently, how to give the perfect presentation, how to disect a book and find all the literacy styles and I have improved drastically on my writing and reading skills. I am honored to have been a Freestyle student. I can use all of these skills for a brighter future.
For Design class we had to create a humor piece that was related to our humor performance. For my humor performance it was about a court case and I was the jugde. In Design class we were intructed to meditate for about twenty to thirty minutes. So we can clear our minds and only focus subconciously. As it says to do so in a book we read called Blink. And then after we meditated we were given a prompt to write about. This exercise happened through a period of a week. After we wrote stuff we were told to go play as for it boosts our minds making us more focused and creative. Then we all had to do an art piece with different art supplies each time. Then we had to create a amplified piece based on one of our writes we did after meditating. I chose mine on Thought. I hope you enjoy my piece. Just click the image to view a larger one. As for English class we studied the different forms of humor and eventually made our own humor piece. It was a performace using more then a few of the different humor tactics. In my humor piece I was grouped up with Cindy and Drianne. I was the judge and Cindy and Drianne was the victim and prosecutor. Some of the humor tactics we used was satire. charicature, and black humor. Click on the video below to watch a hilarious video gauranteed to make someone laugh.
Also we read a book called Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. This book is about how we as humans believe that the best way to make a decision is to gather as much information as we can and then decide. But Gladwell suggests this information is incorrect. That making unconcious decisions is the best way to make any decicsion. So throughout the book he provides us with many different examples backing up his thesis.
Going further more into English class we had to read a book of our choice and then write our own piece using the same tactics. The book I read was The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor and he is a fantacy writer. So my story is a fantacy. I used his tactics through my detail as he does. The only reason why his work is unrealistic is because of the detail he uses. I explain his tactics more in my presentation we also had to do.
Lastly in Web/Audio class we had to develope a mini project on something we have never done before. So I decided to create a song. This song is special and touching. I wrote this song about two years ago and I've made a few modifications. I wont tell you what the song is about because I want you to develope your own feeling and emotion towards it.
