For the Profile Project we had to choose an interesting person in our community. For our English class we had to develop an essay all about our star. We had to learn the profile type writing with an anecdotal lead, nut graf, chronology, scenes, a what lies ahead and an ending quote directly from our star person. We had to interview our "Star Interviewee" as we called them, twice. Technically we had to meet with them three times but the first time was an observation of what kind of characteristics they with held. We then had to develope transcripts to turn in to Mr. Greco so he may grade them. For Web/Audio we had to turn in the audio recording of our interview along with the written out transcript and the photos we had taken. What we needed to do was interview our star interviewee and two other people that know our star and/or relate to the topic we were basing our project on. Also for Web/Audio we needed to create a website based off of the Profile Project, hence the name Profile Website. You are actually looking at my Profile Project right now, so I hope you are enjoying my hard work and dedication. For Web we had to also create a media feature using Adobe After Effects. That was a great challenge becuase we had to modify our orignial essay and then input that into a media feaure with moving objects and fades and swirls and audio; very difficult stuff. Design was a very fun and skeptical this year.
Click Me!We had to create a magazine article based on our essay. The design aspect for me was more difficult then I thought it would be. I was thinking about having more of a hallween theme without it being with witches and castles. The effect I was going for was creepy, crooked, demonic effect. I had a hard time portraying that effect and thanks to the wonderful Ms. P I finally found the right look. I chose the grunge look and added a crooked theme to it. That way it let off a creepy effect.
So for my star person I chose Father Gary Thomas. He is in the right photo. This photo is my Portrait photo we had to do for Design as well. You can actually click on it to view a bigger image. He is in fact an Exorcist priest. He extracts demons from a human soul. I found him to be interesting because I am very involved with the Catolic Church. I am part of a youth group at St. Joseph's Parish in Mountain View. I am in the youth choir there as well. I had to scope Father Thomas out and locate where he is located. He is located at Sacred Heart Parish in Saratoga. He is the Exorcist Priest for the San Jose Diocese. When I first met him I was super nervous. I was shakey, and sweaty. Eventually I became comfortable with him and gradually relaxed. He has a very strong presence to him. He is one of those people where when they walk in the room you know they are there even if you don't see them. His strong ora portrays his work force very well because it prooves how strong he is with his faith in God. He is motivational and inspiring. I walked out of that chapil feeling like I needed to go to Mass the next morning. The presence of God is in him and projects to the surrounding souls. So I had to take photos of him and ask him many questions about his regular day routine and how he deals with his stress. I talked to him about the movie "The Rite" because that movie was based off of the book "The Rite" in which was based off of Father Thomas's experiences. He gave me exactly forty-one minutes of just us to talking about faith, his journies in life and how he looks at life.
