Introduction

“How can I use unconventional forms to express myself?”

The Conceptual Project promotes taking artistic risks, it challenges everything we thought we knew about poetry and music, art and web production; through Adobe and DSLR Cameras, technical skills are acquired and our own personal styles are developed.

Being a Freestyle student means that I am able to break outside the box that regular school forced me in. From Digital Media, I began to understand the similarities between technology and art. In English, which was never a class that I particularly appreciated, I learned to write in a way that makes sense to me, with a teacher that doesn’t harshly critique my story telling style of writing. Freestyle is super valuable to everyone who feels like academics aren’t their strong suit.

Haiku

For this project, I took the statement, “I am experiencing the feeling of contentment through receiving a gift,” and I turned that into a poem that lets anything become the gift.

This was how I created the video in Adobe

The Haiku Video Project made me value how much work it actually takes to make a video as simple as this.

“Why Art?” Essay

In this essay, I wrote about the comparisons between fashion and art. I read an interview of Iris Van Herpen and compared it to 3 of Henri de Toulouse Lautrec’s paintings.

Blend Modes in Photoshop

The following photos were from an assignment in Adobe Photoshop, darkening and lightening photos to make them better.

  1. I don’t particularly like using Photoshop, but it is generally helpful to learn how to edit photos, even if the program is not my favourite.
  2. From this project, I realised how valuable these skills are in life, because they’re something that lots of people need, but not many people actually have.

Film

In Film, we’ve done many projects, from films to short daily projects. These have been valuable as both a Film student and as a person. This class has taught me how to give and receive critiques, how to collaborate with new people, and why it’s important to be able to truly immerse an audience in your film.

This is the title of my film, and therefore the title of my experimental synopsis

This film let my mind go free. A film about a candle, not marvelous by any extent, but it was experimental in the best of ways. This took me about 2 hours to put together, probably more cause the candle wasn’t burning bright. Music choices also had to be changed quite a few times, but I’m quite happy with the final project.
