Hello and welcome to my 3rd page at freestyle

(this music player requires Flash 9)

For English we had to go out and find a topic that we found interesting and then we had to do research and interview people for about that topic. We then took this research and wrote a Research paper. My essential question for this is, What kind of people love snakes? I chose this topic because when i was growing up, my friend's dad had a garage filled with snakes and he still does today.

For Web, we created an Audio Slideshow, which is a like a video, except with pictures with captions, and an audio clip to go with each slide. the angle for my documentary in my slideshow is almost the same as in my research paper, What kind of people love snakes? I interviewed Todd Trowbridge, my friend's dad, Ross Rutner, a Mountain View High Graduate.

For Design we took our research papers, and condensed them down so they could be put in either a book, or an article. We took pictures of our interviewees, our topics, and other related things. We created the Photo Books and Articles in InDesign, an adobe program used for created books. We took our pictures and placed them within the text to create a professional looking article or book. I found the process of creating the article to be fairly straightfoward and easy to do, but that could be because i didn't have to create 100 pages.

The background music for the homepage was created in Garageband using the keyboard instruments and hitting keys to create the different sounds. I created the button that controls the music in Flash using action scripting, much like the Audio Slide Show, except only with music, no pictures.

I learned that there is an art to creating books and slideshows. I learned that there are many different styles of documentary, and that these different styles can be used to create different meaning and sent a more clear message. Creating a documentary is harder than it looks, because you have to go out and find the people you need to interview and then you need them to reveal to you what you hope your documentary reveals to others.
