Composition

In our photo challenge of the week, we were tasked to incorporate photo techniques and compositional techniques into them.

  • Composition

    Frame Within the Frame

For this challenge we had to frame a subject using something that wasn’t an actual picture frame. For this, I chose this rock formation built by someone else I found on the beach. It represents the connection between something man-made and natural because both have effects on the other and that man-made creations rely on nature for its materials.

    Using Props

In this photo I wanted to capture the world through a different lens. Looking through the world with a different perspective will widen your knowledge and make you a more well-rounded person which is what I wanted to convey through this photo.

  • Composition

    Viewpoint

This picture I took was intended to be from the perspective of a small bug as it watches the world go by. It adds an interesting feeling and perspective to the picture because it’s a low shot and brings detailing both to the subject and the background.

  • Composition

    Lighting

This image, by far, is my favorite. Using the separate flash module, I was able to create a mysterious and nervous scene. The tilted angle creates a sense of uneasiness which is further emphasized by the darkness. You can only see a few feet in front of you before darkness swallows your view. This sense of knowing so little in a strange environment is exactly what I wanted to capture for this assignment.

  • Composition

    Symmetry Portrait

In Digital Media, we learned how to use Photoshop to make an object symmetrical around the x or y-axis. We used this to make our faces perfectly symmetrical by the left or the right.

    Fill The Frame

In this photo, I wanted to create a scene with suspense using the flash setting. Taken at night, the background is pitch black and though illuminated, still contains mystery to it as there is only a small field of vision. Additionally, the tilt of the camera gives off an uncertain and ominous feel to it.
