Introduction
Hi, this is Stella Ge, and welcome to the official website for my Profile project!

Meet Doug Bailey: substitute teacher and MVLA recycling manager by day, farmer and gardener by night, but always an endlessly helpful and kindhearted neighbor. I've known him since the age of two, and I've always admired the passion he demonstrates for not only gardening and teaching, but for making others happy as well. He is the glue that holds the neighborhood together, spreading seeds and smiles to every single person he interacts with and making an incredible lasting impact on the community. I took this opportunity to pay tribute to him with this profile so that a greater community of people can also experience his positive effects on his world.

This Profile unit involved a great amount of growth in every class. In English, we wrote a Profile paper incorporating research on an issue our star is involved and passionate about and also explored the delicate boundary differentiating documentation from exploitation. We expanded our photography skills in Design by gathering character portrait shots and created magazine articles with InDesign. In Web/Audio, we learned how to work AfterEffects to create a commercial for our star and advanced our Javascript/jQuery skills to code more sophisticated websites. Our senior presentation tied all that we learned and the most significant aspects of our profile star's character! This unit marked tremendous personal and artistic growth, especially when looking back to the work I was making last year.

I hope you can sense my growth and how much I've enjoyed the making of this project!

Magazine
This unit began with an English-based exploration of writing profiles. We explored the ethics regarding this type of journalism which shaped the way we interacted and decided to portray our subjects. I based my paper on Doug around his eco-citizenship, and why people like him are essential and in high demand in Silicon Valley, especially at a time when technology seems to be taking over everything. Through the process of learning and writing each component of the profile, I found out what it takes to put a person's character and community role into a condensed article, which is quite a daunting task when your profile subject is multi-faceted and incredibly impactful!

/> We took our article and brought it to the Design classroom, designing a magazine article framework to house our papers. We reopened the exploration of design elements, typography, and photography in the creation of this article. Though it was a challenge for me, and I often wasn't happy with the appearance of my article, I came to terms with it and believe that I did produce an elegant and sophisticated article design that I'm proud of.
