One of the other things we produced during this unit was a magazine article. We made the layouts and typesetted everything in Adobe InDesign, which we also used for our documentary projects. Click on the article to expand it to fullscreen, and I hope you enjoy reading it!

For this media feature, I wanted to translate the story of Edbert’s experiences as a cosplayer and an anime convention-goer in both visuals and audio. In Adobe After Effects, I animated many of the images I took of Edbert and at the convention. I also went into Pro Tools and I recorded myself reading my profile paper. It took a long time to animate and synchronize audio with visuals, but I'm pretty satisfied with how it came out. Take a look below to view my media feature!

Welcome to my Profile Website! This unit is dedicated towards finding someone in the community and documenting what they do and why they do it. I chose to profile Edbert Chan, one of my friends who goes to anime conventions and cosplays. Cosplaying is an activity where participants dress up as their favorite people or characters, and most cosplayers create their own costumes. It’s a very unique and impressive hobby, which was why I chose to document Edbert’s experiences and feelings about cosplaying.

You can visit the other pages in this website by clicking on the buttons in the header. The Media Feature is a short slideshow made in Adobe After Effects that goes deeper into Edbert’s experiences as a cosplayer and the significance of the activity in our society. I also have a photogallery on this website, where you can view the photos I took of Edbert’s costumes and the anime convention scene. Finally, I have also created a magazine-style article of Edbert and the activity of cosplaying, which I made in Adobe InDesign. Enjoy the content on my website, and I hope you take away a greater understanding of what the activity of cosplaying is all about.
