Welcome to my documentary website! Here you can find all aspects of our third project here at Freestyle. Our third project this year was the documentary project which focused on documenting the "untold story" of a specfic location. We were to capture this aspect through photos and interviews and present the information in the form of a research paper, a book, and a website.

The project first stemmed from a research paper that we wrote in English. The paper was split into six parts, the foreword, introduction, chapters one through three, and the conclusion. The foreword served as a reflection on the entire process. The introduction was a transition as well as a brief overview of the whole paper. The three chapters incorporated elements of research and personal experience, and needed to be written about different parts of our angle. The conclusion concluded the whole paper obviously.

From there, the paper was made into a book in design class, which can be viewed in the book tab. The book incorporates design elements as well as photos that we had to take ourselves. We needed to use fonts and create a color scheme that went with the general theme of our projects, and it was very important that these went well with our location. In order to make the book, we learned how to use Adobe Indesign which was a completely new program to us at the time. At first, the program seemed very intimidating but as time went on we learned the ropes and ultimately learned how to use the program with ease.

In Web Audio, our assignment was to create a website that captured the aura of our location that featured an online version of our book, an audio slideshow that corresponded with our paper, and a page that featured our full research paper. The website template itself needed to include a custom background, along with custom rollover buttons via image sprites. The hardest part of the website was dealing with the things we had never seen before such as featuring an eBook and creating an audio slideshow. Of the two, the audio slideshow proved to provide a greater challenge. We had to create a slideshow with our pictures, but we also had to create a transcipt that we recorded and put with the different slides. In order to create the book we had to compress a PDF of our inDesign book and make it compatible with dreamweaver so it would appear online.
