Narrative Visual Perspective in Animation

Weapon Design Project

Our main focus for our narrative project in animation was improving our modeling skills in Maya, Zbrush and Substance painter.

While we were a bit behind on schedule for the work that needed to be done that didn’t stop us from learning a lot of important tools and making some cool stuff. The first 3d modeling project we were assigned in Animation was to create a simple weapon using Maya Zbrush and Substance painter.

The basic Shapes of the 3D model would be made in Maya.

We would then bring the object into Zbrush for it’s details and the UV map, to prepare the object for texturing.

After preparing the model for textures we would paint the object in substance painter where the model would basically be finished and ready for use.

Final Shots of the Model

This was overall a great first project for first time students and really fun and enjoyable as well.

Environment Building

Now that we learned the basics of model making it was time to create a scene for our narrative project. The requirements were to make 5 textured objects that could be used in a certain environment.

My idea for this project was to create a sci-fi esque workshop where the area could be used to tinker and fix up things. I had a lot of fun making each asset for my scene.

After our scene was created it was time to add the character we designed into the environment for a mood scene.

And added a bio for our character
