Voice an Audio Book

Using their lessons from the Practice section, Digital Media students had the opportunity to turn their English Short Story into a real Audio Book. The original Short Story was looked over and marked up for potential sound effects and music opportunities. The Foley and music were then hunted for, as well as voice actors that could suitably play whatever characters the student had written. All those sound effects, music, and voices were then thrown into ProTools, a sound-editing software, where everything could fitted together and processed into AfterEffects. The finished audio would be paired up with an image representing the Short Story in After Effects, then published on Freestyle Academy’s Youtube.

Unfortunately, due to problems with my Short Story, I ended up being unable to find a voice actor in time for one of the characters. Instead, I ad-libbed in music for that dialogue. Still, it’s amazing how even a story involving little action could benefit from a little Foley. Check out my Audio Book below (the voice you hear is yours truly)! Below is also my editing process in ProTools.
