An Animatic is a rough draft used to organize scenes and dialogue before actually creating an animation. It starts out with sketches of each frame with the written dialogue and necessary sound effects listed below. After scanning the paper and slicing each scene into it's own piece, you import them into flash and record rough versions of the dialogue and add the sound effects. An animatic works as a preview for the animation and helps to plan out the timing of each scene and what the final scenes will look like and how they will flow.

Run Away

By Nat B. and Zach D.

Scene 1:(DAY)
Man driving in car. Hills, landscape in background.

Narrator: Flashes of color went whizzing by the car. The young man had been driving for a little over 2 hours now. The window was down, the wind blowing across his face. Everything was behind him now.

Young Man: (Sigh) This is it…you’re on your own now…no one will be there to watch over you, to love you, to care for you you. Damn.

Narrator: The young man was as scared as he’d ever been. Being all alone out in the world was frightening to think about. The world is a big place.

Scene 2:(NIGHT)

Man driving at night. Clear night.

Narrator: Signs whizzed by. City names, billboards for the nearest McDonalds, signs telling you how many miles to so and so. He didn’t pay attention though to these distractions.

Young Man: Why am I out here, what was I thinking leaving everything, everyone behind.

Narrator: The thoughts started racing through his head. Images, words, feelings.
