Behind the Scenes

The word mystery takes us back to the mid 1900s, where private detectives used wit and reason to outsmart the toughest crooks, and shady figures walked the streets at night. Our imaginations run wild, conjuring all sorts characters and capers to wrap our minds around.

What makes the mystery genre so entertaining is just that. It lets our minds out to play. We solve the crime or answer the question along with the characters, putting the pieces together as one. A good mystery will always keep us guessing, but allow sharp minds to solve it maybe even before the protaganist.

This is what we attempted to do in our mystery unit. Create a good mystery. We wrote our mystery's in English, and as the Web/Audio class we recorded these and an old time radio mystery, using and creating sound effects and music. We used Pro-Tools for the first time for this project.

In our design class we delved into surrealism, questioning what is real and probing our inner selves. We created a digital photo project based off of our dreams and freewriting, which was pioneered by the father of surrealism, Andre Breton. We then created a mixed media "self-portrait", expressing our greatest fears and hopes for our future in 10 years.dsflg
