For my 3D Light Box, I was inspired by the examples I saw online of nature themed light boxes, so I created my own based on what I saw online. I drew a river going through a path of Mountains and trees. I decided to name my piece Earth because I believed that it served as a resemblance to the nature we see in the world. As somebody who takes lots of inspiration from nature and often does homework outside to find peace, I felt that this project was a good resemblance of my interests in nature.
I created this product using Illustrator to design the light box, as well as After Effects to create the video. Through this process I learned many skills such as animating 3D cameras, drawing art pieces in 3D, and creating cameras that revolved around objects in After Effects. Throughout this process, I learned how to become a skilled artist and editor, which I hope to continue practicing into the future. I really enjoyed the process of creating this piece of art as it was very satisfying to see my ideas in programs become life in a real light box. This project allowed me to understand the process behind art and videos, and how important it is to have an understanding about all pieces of art.
