The Bay: A Senior Amplified Art Project by Blake Moran (2015)

As my last Freestyle artwork, this is one that I am most proud of. The central picture, the Golden Gate Bridge, was taken during a day trip I took to the city. I used the image trace tool in Illustrator. In past projects I liked the effect of image trace giving an animated look to the photo. I included my other art pieces from the blink unit in the background of the photo. I used the mandala as a sort of sun behind the mountains and the bridge. The zentangle is the the background which gives the piece a sort of surreal-looking effect. I think it really adds to the whole feel of the piece.

During my last two years at Freestyle I have seen myself grow a lot both as a person and an artist. My failing over and over again with my artwork I now have a much better idea of what works and what doesn't work with my artwork. I have also learned where my strengths are in art. I may not be the best drawer but I've learned I'm a pretty decent photo editor. With all my past failures I was able to combine my strengths and make one of my stronger pieces of the year.
