Sudden Danger: A Senior Movie Poster by Jehan Rasmussen (2020)

“Sudden Danger” features a spunky lesbian duo made up of a private investigator (PI) and agrieving widow. The PI has always been skeptical about cases but is still eager to catch her big break when a widow comes along claiming that her husband had been murdered after his disappearance. It isn’t until a bombshell discovery that the PI believes any clues allude to murder. Now facing a world of uncertainty and hidden enemies, the two make their way around the city. Their road to the truth is not without many comedic mishaps and awkward situations, which leads to a blooming romance between the two. The program I primarily used to create this poster was Adobe Photoshop. Traditionally, for clear and sharp lines, I would use Adobe Illustrator, but I challenged myself to create a precise painting in Photoshop. The scene depicted in the poster takes place right before the main conflict arises, when the hidden jewelry and money are discovered. The two protagonists are about to enter the apartment where the widow and her husband lived.

My poster was inspired by Italian Pop Art fashion designer, Roberto Capucci (1930-present). His dresses belong to a more sculptural and artistic side of fashion, as opposed to ready-to-wear runway designs. He is well-known for his line of “sculptural dresses,” fashion that was made only for the runway. Capucci’s piece inspired me because of its bold use of color and emphasis, drawing the eye directly to the green within the pink outer layer. Using this inspiration, I focused on color and emphasis while creating my piece. Related website
