A Daily War

        Nelson was born into this life and now he's stuck with it, but everyday he questions his desicion. Nelson is a 100% stereotypical nerd. From day one he's been all about school, computers, and videogames. He's the laughing stock of his entire school and the closest thing he has to friends is his fellow members of the Dungeons and Dragons Club, Computer Club, and Mathletes of America. Everyday his mind goes through a battle. Did he make the right desicion by becoming a nerd or should he have been a bit more social? A bit more amiable?

        I decided to put my illustration on top of a piece of binder paper, because Nelson is constantly using paper to work on hisw Stats AP or Physics AP homework. The scale represents both sides of his battle both being pushed down, but only one side being successful. One side of the spectrum are the scholastic things he particapates in and on the other side the more social activities you'd think a kid his age would be participating in.

 

 

    Project Explanation: For this project we were supposed to illustrate a battle or difficulty our character has in their life. We also had to incoporate text in some form and we learned how to use the typographer settings in Illustrator.

 

                                                   A Social Life?

    Nelson lacks all the social skills he needs. All his life he has been so caught up with studying and being a nerd that he lacks every social skill he needs especially when it comes to women. My dyptich features Nelson as a young child in the fourth grade already ahead studying Geometry and as an adult. In both images Nelson is going through the same problem. He's caught up in his work and even when a woman is interested in him he's to busy in his nerdiness to attend or pay attention to her.

    Both pictures were taken with manual settings using camera raw using a Cannon Rebel SLR camera. I also used lighting for the first time to accentuate the feelings of the pictures. I put a spotlight on the characters weirded out facial expressions. I also edited the pictures in camera RAW and thus used a vignetting effect to give it a darker look.

 

    Project Explanation: The purpose of this project was for us to learn how to use lighting to give our images flavor.
