me

This is me.

Hello! I am Melisa Jones. Welcome to my Self-Portrait website. A few things I think you should know about me are: I figure skate, I like to draw (this is an understatement), I like watching anime, and I like listening to music.
My family has helped me grow by teaching me how to be a responsible person. My friends have also influenced me to be who I am. They're funny, love to laugh and express themselves, and that has had a positive effect on me.

I designed this website according to my personal taste. I drew all of the buttons in Illustrator and I made my background blue, which is my favorite color. I wanted the feel of the website to be calming and not overwhelming.

At Freestyle, I am learning how to combine artistic and techinical skills. My Self-Portrait diptych gives more insight into my point of view on the world. My Self-Portrait illustration shows my love for art. So far in my life, I have learned things that I can believe in and I have shared those things with you on my Podcast page. In my Narrative Essay, I wrote about one of my beliefs. I am not an excellent writer, but I hope to improve my skills. My vision of the world is expressed in my Photogallery. I see the world as a huge place with a lot of things going on at once, so it's hard to focus on something for a long time. But if you take the time to just stop and look, you might catch something really cool that you otherwise wouldn't have seen.

It's amazing how much I've learned in 9 weeks this year, creating all of the things you will see on this Self-Portrait website. When I first started in August, I had no knowledge of Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, or Garageband. Now I know how to, just to list a few things, use the Pen Tool, optimize an image for the web, mix music loops on multi-tracks, properly set a disjoint rollover, manipulate CSS to format the look of my webpages, utilize Smart Objects, and use Live Paint tools. There is a lot more I haven't yet learned, but now when I look back to the start of the year, I feel very accomplished.

Finally, I am proud of this Self-Portrait website because it is the first website I've ever made and I worked hard to create it. I hope you enjoy it!
