This is my audio slideshow. For my audio slideshow I documented Circus Center, a circus school in San Francisco, but told the stories of three students there. One is training to be a clown while working part-time as a receptionist there, one is destined for Cirque du Soliel and a professional aerial artist, and one is an award-winning professor of philosophy who practices flying trapeze recreationally. I structured my slideshow this way because I wanted to show how diverse the circus community is and how dedicated you actually have to be in order to join the circus. Some things to listen for in my audio slideshow are the interviews chronicling the struggles all three have had with pursuing the circus arts, though they are all on different levels professionally. The audio slideshow was so much fun to make. I loved combining the photographs I took with the audio interviews I conducted and figuring out how to tell a coherent story with what I had. It definitely was quite difficult, but I am proud of the result and hope you enjoy it.
The audio slideshow was definitely difficult to create because we had to combine so many different mediums into one big project. I had to take photos that illustrate what my interviewees were saying and had to edit sounds. To do all this, I used ProTools, Garageband, Photoshop, and Flash. Out of those programs I found all of them pretty easy to use except for Flash where we had to do action scripting, which I definitely struggled with because it has to be so precise. Overall though, all those programs were really useful and helped to make my audio slideshow so much better.
