For our conceptual photography project, we were to photograph objects that metaphorically represent the feeling and action of our concept statements that we wrote in English. We were assigned to take as many photos as possible with as many different angles, lighting, and backgrounds as possible so that we had options when choosing our final one. We were then to choose our favorite oft he pictures, and the one that we thought the best spoke to the viewer, and really complimented our objects in the best way possible. After we chose our Final photo, We edited them Using Adobe Phtotoshop. In this particular photo, II edited very. I started with curves to adjust the brightness of the photo and added a couple adjustment layers to raise the contrast and lower the saturation.

Below you will find a snapshot of my workspace in Adobe Photoshop, my final conceptual Photo, and below that, my artist statement which goes further into detail about the behind the sc3enes of this photo.

I am exploring the feeling of regret through the action of observing my surroundings.

In my conceptual photo, I used a piece of paper scribbled on by the permanent marker and a pair of glasses. In my photo, the glasses are placed in front of the scribbled piece of paper in order to portray the order of emotion to action, as explained in my concept statement. The objects are placed on a sidewalk or pavement and I took the picture facing toward the sun during sunset. I decided to shoot in this lighting because I wanted the picture to seem darker, and give a colder feeling. I placed the paper and glasses on a diagonal simply because I liked the way their angles complimented each other and created some lines in the photo.

I scribbled on a piece of paper to represent regret and the use of permanent marker shows the permanence and impact my past decisions have had on my life. Glasses represents observing my surroundings because it is something that enhances my site and I also enjoyed how the simplistic appearance of glasses balanced out the chaotic appearance of the scribbles on the paper. The interaction between the two objects signifies that when I am observing my surroundings, this action opens my eyes and mind to how my past decisions have impacted my life and have all been pieced together to shape me into who I am today. In the picture, the glasses are placed in front of the scribbled paper in order to portray this relationship.

Lastly, in Photoshop Adobe, I only made a few changes. First I increased the contrast and brightness. I did this to make the difference between the blacks in the glasses and the scribbles stand out more. Then I decreased the saturation in order to add to the colder and almost colorless feeling I was going for.
