Dream
Dream: In the background of "Dream" there is a mountain range. At its center is a magnificent waterfall. Above this resides a windy sky. This background is a complex multitude of gray, black, and green shades. In the foreground I put a gray gradient path. Along the path lay a few objects. These objects include a baseball bat, baseball, red shirt, soccer ball, blue jeans, hockey stick, and puck. At the end of this path is a hot air balloon ready to take off. Destination: Paradise. Written on the balloon, "Follow Your Dreams". In the balloon is a person. To the right of my balloon is a tree. Off the tree hangs dice, a heart, and a teddy bear. A plane fly's above heading towards paradise as well. To the right a sky diver is descending from paradise.
This particular work of art is trying to convey the idea that we all want to be in a certain place. It is up to us and only us to reach that place. To do so we must sacrifice and leave precious things behind. Yet it's ok. We are not alone in this difficult journey. There will be people making the journey towards success with us and there will be those coming back from it. Surrounding yourself with those pursuing successful dreams and making good choices is essential in achieving your own dreams. You have to recognize who is making and who is receding progress.
The hot air balloon represents the journey to "Paradise". Paradise represents a euphoria of sorts. It is a spiritual location of happiness in which one achieves his/her goals and reaches his/her dream. This "Paradise" is represented by the mountain range and waterfall in the background. The man inside the balloon represents you and me. The path behind him symbolizes our past. The clothes and sports memorabilia symbolize things of value left behind. Yet the boy in the balloon is smiling because even though he is leaving his precious past, he is heading for an even better future. The tree to his right represents his childhood. I made this a tree to represent the landmark he will always have "roots" to. The plane represents a successful person making the journey to paradise with us. The sky diver is descending from paradise. Showing that people will surround our journey support our journey, alter out journey, and sometimes even completely change it.
