The Animation: The Job
The animation was probably the most time consuming, thought provoking and enjoyable of the many projects that I worked on this past 2 months. As with the entire process, i first wrote the story, drew the story in Adobe Photoshop, made in an animatic using the graphics in Adobe Flash, and finally composed the actual animation in Adobe Flash.
My animation is titled "The Job," and is about a typical coporate office worker named Steve and aspirer who is competing with his friend Drew. Nervous and anxious, Steve tries his best to assemble a portfolio and confront his boss in the interview. In the end, a brief source of inspiration re-motivated Steve, and he got the job. Later, however, Steve realizes that it wasn't that easy... and once again faces the obstacle of the emotions of fear and dread.
I was inspired by the every day climbing of the corporate ladder scenario, and wanted to invest in the raw emotions of Steve, including the anxiety for trying out for a job, the hope of getting it, the happiness of finally achieving it, and the later self-destructing hubris associated with such gains.
