Portrait Header

My character is Cliff Anderson. He is a man in his early twenties who has not lived up to the hopes of his father. For my character portrait I focused on Cliff’s internal struggle. He is grappling with the thought of chasing his own dream or following in the footsteps of his father; depicted by the strife shown on his face. Both athletics and art have played a big role in his life and now that a crossroad has come up he is torn apart. The football, the jersey, and the trophy are all representative of what his father wants him to hone in on; while the markers and the sketchbook show the desire to follow his own path. He wishes that he didn’t have to make the decision and that he could continue to pursue both, but in reality he knows that if he does not devote all of his time to one cause that he will fail to achieve anything at all. Ultimately I wanted to make it clear that sometimes having to make difficult decisions is the problem more so than the results of those decisions.
