Shell
In my short story, the main character goes from being a hopeful, innocent, and slightly naive man to becoming a dark, tormented shadow of his former self. He had to kill to survive, and it ruined him, and with each gunshot a piece of his innocence was lost.
In the illustration, the teddy bear symbolizes the man's innocence. It is discarded along with some bullet casings, showing that as the man shot and killed, he left not only the casings behind but also his innocence. The man himself is portrayed as a black skeletal silhouette. representing the fact that he has lost his old self, and is now a mere empty shell, with no hope.
