The main character in my photonarrative is a teenager that feels emotionally isolated from his friends and family. He feels that he cannot relate to anything, and does not have a place to belong in the world. He then later contemplates joining the army to get away from it all, but has second thoughts about whether it really is worth leaving everything behind.
On the left-hand picture, the man is shown alone in a dark setting, with only a single light illuminating his face. The background is dark to show how he can't see into the future, and the bars in front show how he feels trapped in his current environment. On the right is the point of no return, he's signed up into the army and can never go back. Part of the picture is bright to show how he's trying to convince himself that he's figured out what he wants, but at the same time there's darkness to show his inner doubt.
