The idea of creating a children’s book as a class was not only about the creative process of illustrating it, but was a project that

put a major emphasis and using our time productively and to focus so that we would be able to write short stories, share them as a class, decide on which on to use, and then write our own version of the story. Our group came up with an idea where dinosaurs went to a zoo and saw animals they’ve never seen and going home appreciating their differences. However, the class voted on the story of Pluto being excluded as a planet. After writing our own versions of the story, we had to share them, decide on which one to aim for and assign specific pages to people as we kept in mind of order of events, which ones to eliminate, if the pages were to be double or a single spread. We even got a brief overview of a general idea what our art would be. This was all done in a couple English classes. We then take our idea to our Design class and share our ideas or favorites of styles of art by looking at samples. We create our own template after being assigned certain planets, s o that others can grab them for their own page. A great deal of fun and mess was being put into getting our backgrounds together. not one is the same as another. This project is really worth the work.
