ILLUSTRATION
For this assignment, we were required to create an illustration based on a symbol story we wrote in english class. When making the illustration, we had to use the symbolic elements from our story to create a visual representation that we would make in design class. For making our illustrations, we used a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator. We were also allowed to use other mediums such as watercolor, oil pastels, or hand drawings that could be scanned in and applied to our artwork.
My illustration was based on a story I wrote about a man who becomes lost in the mountains and learns to not stress about what he has no control over. When he stumbles upon an uninhabited log cabin, he is able to spend some time alone and think. Outside of his window is a single tree with no leaves on it, cold and alone, just like him. As he stares at the bald branches, he thinks about all of the mistakes he had made back at home that he may never be able to fix. As the snow melts and he is able to continue on his way, the man comes to the conclusion that the past should be put behind him so he can start the next chapter of his life and leave his worries and regrets behind him. I hope that the viewer can look at my piece and share the same sense of being able to live in the present and let go of the past.
