Our assignment for our Illustration was to represent the main flaw or conflict of our character from our story using any aspects we wanted as long as we somehow incorporated typography as an art into it.

Optimism

The illustration is about someone who is worn out by life and has become very closed off. They lose everything for them self, including part of themselves by not opening up. By keeping to themselves, they let the loss of hope, and the continual messy rush of life build up inside with nowhere to be let out. Yet, despite being closed off and losing hope, the illustration shows that there are always things and people there no matter what.

In the illustration, the sun represents the person's soul which is bruised through time and experience. The sun is very faded and not bright, its beams barely visible. The big trees block out any of the rays that are still shining through, just like how this person only keeps things to themselves. The newspaper text in the background represents the complicated, messy and busy lifestyles of so many of us, just like newspapers which carry over crowded, scary, sad, and overfilled content to them. The busy forest floor represents that even with no access of light to grow; there are still things that are thriving with life, even if a dandelion is losing its last seed.
