For this illustration unit we had serveral options we could do. I chose to illustrate the main concept of all my stories which is holding on to the past. Wantting to holding on to the past is what many people do, just like myself so I wantted to create a visual of how I feel about holding on to the past. I hope you can find a conection and relate it to your own life. I'm very proud of my illustration and I hope you like it.

Hold on or Let Go

Holding onto the past is what people do all the time. Just like myself. Memories just come back in my mind and I can't help but thinking about them. Sometimes it holds me back from doing something new. In the stories that I have written the characters have to deal with something that happened in their past. Sometimes people can manage to move on but some times they are not able to.

In my illustration I want to show the concept of what it feels like to hold on to the past. There is an old tea cup to represent the past, also because it is partly shattered it shows that not all past memories are joyful, and it is also still very pretty because in the past there are still many good memories that are important to keep. I made one hand letting go of the tea cup, and the other hand ready to catch it. This represents how people want to let go of the past but can't always. The background of all the doors represent all the journeys that a person takes during their life.
