“Edgar”
This animation tells the story of an ugly monster named Edgar who isn’t accepted by the others. So, in an attempt to fit in, he gets a super scary makeover, but realizes that he doesn’t need the approval of others to love himself. The animation addresses the issue of how the opinions of others can so greatly affect self-esteem. I tried to emphasize that being accepted and fitting in aren’t the only things that matter. It’s a really personal message for me too since I had so many struggles with my identity and self-acceptance.
