My Friends

girls

Myself, Sarah, Marisa, Maya, and Megan.

The Girls

Sarah: Sarah is my neighbor, and one of my best friends. She has a crazy dog, and we always crack up when we listen to the radio together. Whenever I just want to hang out with someone, I know I can call Sarah and she’d be up for anything.

Marisa: When I was younger, I used to call Marisa “Ma’isa” which annoyed her a lot. Marisa is hilarious, and cynical to the point of hilarity. She’s sweet, and always thinks of others.

Maya: I’ve known Maya since I was 6. During our first playdate, we ate salami sandwiches, and once those were finished, ate straight salami. I’ve had so many memories with her playing silly games, and talking about life. She’s like my sister.

Megan: Megan and I have known each other for a while. She has the most interesting stories, and always surprises me with her generosity and love for kids. Actually, when we’re older we are going to have neighboring vacation houses in Tuscany in which our respective children will fall in love. It’s decided.

Sophia and I posing during a "photoshoot."

Sophia

Even though she and I go to different schools, we still make an effort to hang out frequently. We always have something to talk about, and we enjoy confusing other people by referring to ourselves as the “Sophie H.”s. We’ve had a lot of memories together--sending each other false candy grams, photoshoots, and more. On the first day of school, Sophia drove to my house to give me a care package of rubber duckies and Phineas and Ferb fruit snacks.

I know I can always turn to Sophia when I want to rant about something-- whether it be family, friends, or boy problems. She has a humongous lexus, and on Friday nights we like to sit in it, blasting 102.1, the classical music station.

Evelyn and I goofing off.

Evelyn

I’ve known Evelyn since 2nd grade. When we were little and naughty, we used to draw on people’s faces in the yearbook. We like to giggle at things and talk about righteous people.

Evelyn is connected to many things, like our school's Mandarin Club. She is also the co-president of the Christian Club (Youth Alive) and is an active participant at her church. I greatly admire her for her devotion and hard work ethic. Evelyn is someone who will always pull through and is very reliable.

mom

Ashwin being a baller.

Ashwin

I’ve known this kid since kindergarten. He’s ten inches taller than me, but I’m ten months older than him, so it evens that out nicely. Everytime we hang out, we eat burritos or pho or pearl tea, do USHAP notes, and then talk about how we’re going to take over the world--wait, what?

Ashwin and I hung out a lot this past summer, eating chicken buns, writing a dictionamary, as well as frequenting our favorite burrito place. He lives near me, so I can always call him up whenever and we'll watch a movie or something. He's really thoughtful, and we help each other out a lot (I help him in USHAP, and he helps me in Trig).

mom

Tara, Elize, myself, Ben, and Katherine.

Junioracle

Elize, Katherine, Tara, Ben and I make up Junioracle. Together since Freshman year, we’ve been the five faithful friends in Oracle. We’ve grown together and experienced Oracle together, and it’s been really fun so far.

When we started Oracle, none of us knew each other. We maybe knew of each other, but in terms of knowing each other on a deeper level, we were disconnected. However, as the year went on, more often than not we freshmen could be seen clustered in the corner of the room, laughing and doing our homework together. We told stories, jokes, and talked about life.

Now we're juniors, and have become Junioracle (when sophomores, we were sophomoracle, and freshmen we were freshoracle). We're close as ever, and each of us have new responsibility-- I'm the Sports Editor, Tara and Elize are in the Features department, Ben is the Humor and Games Editor, and Katherine is the Arts editor.

A bit cramped... Aiden's 6 ft.

Aiden

I’ve had a lot of memories with this guy. In second and third grade, we used to make prizes for our teachers, which were really just sticker collages--which seemed really cool back then. We joke around, and even though I have to crane my neck everytime I talk to him, we still have a good time.

Aiden and I were lab partners in freshmen Chemistry Honors, which was a difficult but rewarding class. We spent a lot of time talking and arguing on the phone when doing our writeups or doing our homework, and we both did well in the class. In Chemistry AP in Sophomore year, we didn't work together as much but still colloborated when we needed to. Aiden is definitely the most laidback person I know, always encouraging me to relax and think about the big picture when I freak out about an assignment. He's also extremely intelligent, and has an innate talent for chemistry and math. He's definitely a role model. Mostly because I have to look up to him. Literally.

michael

At the best park in the world.

Michael

Michael is a really good friend. He’s hilarious and sweet, plus a great person to speak French with. We always have interesting conversations about our favorite animes and he’s never mean.

Michael was the first of my friends who I learned like anime as much as I did. Before, anime was a secret hobby of mine, and I didn't have anyone to talk with about it. But Michael recently talked about one of my favorite animes, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and we were able to have good conversation. Michael is really nice, and dependable.

eric

Great smile, Eric.

Eric

This boy loves the pictures. He’s hilarious, and I always laugh when I’m with him. We take photos together, and he poses so well Zoolander’s jealous.

Eric is by far the most sarcastic person I know, and becase of that he is the funniest. I'm not exactly sure when we became good friends, but we ended up talking a lot, hanging out more, and later having photoshoots with our friend Sophia. He's definitely a great person to hang out with, and his take on life is unique and interesting. Better yet, Eric has a great taste in music and clothing, giving us even more to talk about.
