Taking on the Other Side

My Illustration is about my recently developing struggle between the logical side of my brain and the creative side. The whole concept is an even split down the middle of the picture, with one side that is all equations and just text and words. I made the background of that side gray to emphasize the monotonous nature that I associate with such academic courses. The other side is bright and colorful, full of pictures and random shapes to show the creative side of the brain. There are arrows pointing towards my head from each side showing how this is all inside my own head, this struggle between logical and wild sides of the human mind. I made the creative side much more colorful and bright so that the viewer is drawn towards it in the same way that I’ve been drawn towards my own creative side since attending freestyle and I chose to put the creative side on the side that I am looking at to further this interpretation. And I chose to illustrate this particular picture of myself because I look slightly confused or uncomfortable, but not overwhelmed by everything that’s going on around me. I look excited and curious to find out what the creative side has in store for me. It’s really to show that although the switch from using only one side of the brain to both can be a little overwhelming, it’s an exciting change that I feel is going to open vast possibilities for me in the future.
