A Bedroom And A Wall

This piece is a self-portrait.  It’s about me.  It’s made up of three separate images that are all in the same area, my bedroom, with me in the left portion of the frame.  All of the photos have the same wall in the background, with me as the main subject of the composition.  These are three intimate photos that illustrate more than one aspect of my personality, and more than one of my beliefs.    

I chose to include this one particular wall in every frame, not because it may create nice contrast, but because you can easily see what I care enough about to hang on my wall.  The wall is covered with pictures, mostly of friends and other artwork I’ve done.  It’s vital to my self-portrait because it does include pictures of my friends, without whom I wouldn’t be who am.  My bedroom wall covered in photographs illustrates how passionately I feel about taking pictures.  In every image I’m on the left side of the frame, similar to how in life I function more as a left-hemisphere person. My bedroom is where I put all the things that I feel passionately about, and it’s my sanctuary, away from all evil, and one of the only places to truly see me.

I hope you’ll see me from a perspective that may have never even occurred to you before.  I’m showing myself in place than no one sees me in, a vulnerable state, sharing what’s most important to me with others.  I hope you take with you an idea of who I am, and what I believe in.
