"Through The Lens"

This piece is about how I see myself as not just a clear image, but what I see is filtered by layers and lenses like a photograph.   Instead of having just an image of myself, I have an illustration of my hand holding a picture of me, taking a picture.  My hand holding the picture represents how I can only see myself through reflections and images.  The picture I’m holding is altered with changed colors to show that I don’t see myself as a clear, straightforward image, but what I see is distorted because I’m seeing it through a much different ‘lens’ that is clouded with my emotion, knowledge and personality. The empty frames that fill the background are there to be filled with other perspectives of me.  The way I see myself constantly changes, and it may not always be the altered image you see in front.  I hope, from this, you can take away an understanding of how my image of myself can be completely different from yours because what I see is influenced by everything I know and feel.
